On the 10th June, Andres over at the Mobility.mobi forum announced the launch of a community-based initiaive. 

The campaign, called Why .mobi?, is being launched to promote awareness among mobile-internet users and has been built by active members of the existing .mobi community. 

A quote from the launch posting states:

"We wanted to keep the site simple, the message clean, and the layout personable so that everyone can learn and relate to what .mobi is, why it was created, why it's better, and why everyone should look for them when surfing the mobile web. We even have a ".com vs .mobi" section to visually communicate the differences in a fun way that will stick in people's heads. We also added a "did you know?" box on the inner pages to give viewers some tasty tidbits about .mobi."

The idea now is for all publishers of mobile-content to add a link to this site in order to drive traffic and consequently, awareness of the initiative.
